Wrestling & How Event Security Guards Should Be Seen

By Robert Sutter

It is apparent that, speaking as a wrestling fan, some individuals on television are seemingly portrayed weaker than others. Some "officials" are not going to be seen as strong on TV, even though the work they are able to perform on a constant basis is seen as some of the most important that you can imagine. There is so much responsibility that comes with referees, event security guards, and what have you. Whatever the case may be, I have more than a few concerns here.

Let's take the referees, for example, seeing as how they aren't exactly treated as well as they should be. In every match, they have to make sure that they call everything right down the middle, whether it has to do with pinfall attempts to making sure that moves on the ropes are broken before the count of five. However, whenever a referee takes a bump and become hurt, they stay down for the entire duration of the match, it seems like. One would think that they would be more durable.

It's not uncommon for me to watch these shows and believe that WWE, for example, could make use of much stronger officials. For example, I remember saying during one match, "why doesn't WWE simply hire workers along the lines of UFC?" I have to believe that not only are they going to be able to withstand more from a physical standpoint but they will not be bullied as easily. This will only allow matches to continue as they should be without many, if any at all, shenanigans to be had.

I think the same can be said about event security guards, since these individuals have been seen as those who can break up fights. However, from what I have seen, these particular individuals seem to have a lot of trouble going about their job on TV, which shouldn't be the case. After all, these guards have gone about training of the highest degree and wrestling should do the better justice. I think the landscape of regulation in wrestling would be helped by authorities like the Protective Group.

Wrestling is full of aspects that you might enjoy but how well are these aspects going to hold up, you may wonder? It's possible that you might have liked some storylines or matches when you were younger but you've come to realize that they have not aged well. Regardless, there should be strength in the workers that are not seen in the ring, event security guards included. If this is the case, I have no doubt that only the strongest wrestling shows are going to be had.
